Totals from July 2006 Homeless CountUnder the leadership of the Homelessness Prevention Coalition of Guilford County, the United Way of Greater Greensboro, and the United Way of Greater High Point, the Guilford County Task Force to End Homelessness has announced the launch of a new website, http://www.partnersforhomeless.org/.
Chronic homelessness has become a national issue of significant proportions and over 200 cities across the Country are developing plans to address this human tragedy. In Guilford County, a task force chaired by Carole Bruce an attorney at Smith Moore is in place to develop a ten year plan to address the issue. This task force is sponsored by the City Councils of Greensboro and High Point, the Guilford County Board of Commissioners, the Weaver foundation, and the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro.
The mission of the task force is to improve the quality of life for all residents of Guilford County by ending chronic homelessness and reducing all types of homelessness by 2016.
This website provides an overview of the task force’s mission, the strategy for developing a comprehensive ten year plan, current research and best practices, and our task force leadership and membership. In addition, the website provides a resource guide on services available in Guilford County and contact information for services for the homeless.
The Guilford County Task Force to End Homelessness would like to give a special thank you to TechTriad and Carolinanet.com for their gifts of Web development, Web hosting, and technical assistance to make this Web presence possible for all the citizens of Guilford County.
